Get Prepared
Being prepared for emergencies is crucial at home, school, work and in your community. Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone right away. The best way to make you and your family safer is to be prepared before disaster strikes. We encourage you to:

Mission
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principals of the International Red Cross movement, will provide relief to victums of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
History
How did it all begin?
The American Red Cross is the largest volunteer organization in America. Since the founding of the Red Cross by Clara Barton in 1881, volunteers have been trained to help families, friends, and neighbors in the event of an emergency.
The Tippecanoe County Chapter was founded in 1915. Since then, our purpose has not changed. We continue to provide the community with services that aid in disaster relief, health and safety, and military communication. Besides being committed to Lafayette and its' surrounding communities, we also deal with issues on a national level. The Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross is a link to the American Red Cross as well as the International Red Cross movement.
Has the Red Cross changed?
Throughout a period of one hundred years, the Red Cross has grown to be the largest network of helping hands in America. The American Red Cross has over 1.2 million volunteers nationwide. The Tippecanoe County Chapter has over 250 volunteers from the community. Friends helping neighbors, that is our commitment.
